This very popular Bunk Bed is built from 1 1/2" thick Solid Pine. Easily converts into two twin beds. Perfect for when the children can't get along! Did you know that bunk beds must have a 5" clearance from the top of the mattress to the top of the guard rail? It's true. The 5" requirement is to keep children from falling off the top bunk. This is why Quality Craft recommends their ?optional" mattress support system. It gives more clearance being only 3/4 of an inch high and has 12 slats that are 3-1/4" wide. The slats are held together with strong nylon webbing then held to the rail with 24 screws. This provides more safety, more support for the mattress, and a more attractive appearance.
